Hello! I was trying to update serum in splice and the installer loaded and I chose which files were necessary for my pc. As the files were downloading the installer ran into an error while downloading the skins files and the bpm files. I tried to ignore them and continue working on a project with a producer friend which he uploaded in splice. Now when I open the project all of the serum patches are gone. the midi files still exist but no sound came out of the notes. I opened serum and a warning message saying "the serum presets used were on an updated version of Serum, please update your software". HELP!
Try using the "update" button on the plug-ins tab of the Splice client app.
If Serum is not updated, then you are likely on Windows and installing to the wrong folder - delete Serum from your plugins folder, verify Serum is no longer available in the DAW on song load, and then quit and run the update installer.
Hey there, I am having the same issues but not through splice. I try to install the update and first thing that comes up is the error message above. I have tried moving serum to a different folder so that it's gone from my plug ins folder as mentioned above. Didn't work as the same thing still happened when i retried. What do i do? Thanks.
Sounds like you have an old presets folder, perhaps relocated.
Click ok to the error message. Go up a folder level (backspace key on Windows / command-uparrow on MacOS) and rename that “Serum presets” folder (eg “Serum Presets-Old”).
Then reinstall the full version of Serum from your account.
I have this problem where I cant update serum through splice, even thought my payment options are working & is active, I have tried signigng in and out of splice but i can never update my serum.
Have you run the update installer? It's likely you have multiple plugin versions installed if so, and your DAW is set to look at a different location. Deleting Serum.dll / Serum_x64.dll from any VST2 folders listed in your DAW is the correct solution. See here for more info: https://support.xferrecords.com/category/13-plug-in-wont-update
