Hi everyone,
I am currently on day two of my "three day trial" of the Splice rent to own program of Serum, but I haven't even gotten to experiment around with it because it is asking for a serial number. It then redirects me to the "product keys" section of Xfer's site, but it doesn't show anything. Any tips on what I'm supposed to do? I know I want to be billed monthly for the service and eventually own it, but I don't know what to do to get the serial number. Help :(
Jorge
I'm experiencing exactly the same problem. :(
I am having the same problem now. Wasn't an issue for the first couple of days but now that my first payment has gone through, it is asking for a serial number.
First, here's boilerplate message from Splice (and me I guess now!):
Please make sure you have deleted any previous versions of Serum you have on your computer. Then confirm that you are signed into the Splice app (the Splice logo will appear in your menubar) and have the latest version of the Splice client installed. The current version for OSX is 2.1, and for Windows it's 1.2.15. If you need to download the Splice app, you can do so here: splice.com/download
If you need to re-install Serum, open the client and navigate to the 'Plugins' Tab and click 'Reinstall'
You can also download the Serum installer here: https://splice.com/plugins/install/serum

and if problems persist
1)
command-shift-G and type or paste paste:
~/Library/Application Support/com.xferrecords.serum
delete User.dat
2)
command-shift-G in Finder
/Library/Audio/Presets/Xfer Records/Serum Presets/System/
right-click (ctrl-click) User.dat -> open with .. (other) TextEdit
select all text, delete, type something short e.g. ABCD, save
Serum should not ask for you SN# next run.
Warm regards,
Steve
Eff it. Too many complications through splice on my end when it came to downloading the splice desktop app on my PC. Worked flawlessly on my Mac, but not on my PC. Got annoyed with it all and just spent the 189 bucks through xfer straight out. Problem solved. Lol.
Still having issues. These were the steps that I've taken in multiple re-installs, I'm now getting Error -538 : "Please contact [email protected]"
My process for uninstall/reinstall is as follows:
-Delete .dll files in 32-bit and 64-bit directories
-Delete AAX files, finding them via search
-Delete C:/Users/Me/Documents and Settings/AppData/Roaming/Xfer
-Delete Serum presets folder in This PC/ Documents/Xfer
-Then open splice and Plugins > Download
-I have also tried downloading the Serum demo install form the xfer homepage.
I've repeated this process several times, combining with power cycles but still having no luck. Please advise!
Additional notes:
-OS: Win10
-HOST: Ableton & Bitwig
Please contact me through the contact form or here: [email protected] and mention the error and your OS.
I've tried everything. but it still ask for the SN. im using it on GarageBand. have the latest version of Splice and did everything possible. do you have any other tip ?
Garageband has a unique issue being sandboxed, Splice has been made aware of this issue and a fix will be going out tomorrow for the Splice client. You can email me if you're impatient
I'm having the same issue. Why can't you just provide us individually with our serial numbers?
there is no serial number if you are using rent-to-own. Serum isn't seeing the lease file that Splice should be giving you,so it assumes you aren't leasing. Are you using Garageband?
worked perfect for 2 days, but i just got the same error, bought it through splice montlhy payments and its active.
how can i fix this issue asap?
running on osx 10.10 ableton 9
thanks
I'm not sure what error you are referring to, please email me [email protected]
Hi,
I have the exact same problem with Serum under windows 8. I use Serum 1.113 with Renoise 3.1.0 and Splice 1.2.26. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Serum with no results.
The strange thing is that Serum worked yesterday and the day before yesterday.
Most likely your payment did not go through - I would suggest to contact [email protected]
windows 10; FL 12
im also experiencing the serial problem and ive been under splices pay to own program for 2 months before this happened. I have also have tried uninstalling and reinstalling all of my .dll and the later instructions above.
i did previously crack serum to try it before i decided to pay for it.
maybe a possible interference?
the only method that has work to get my serum even usuable with my old cracked serial key at the cost of all of my own presets, purchased presets, purchased wavetables.
help!
It now works. You're probably right about the payment. I'm happy to be able to use it again !
I have rent to own serum but out of no where its asking me for serial number, i checked to see if my payment didnt go through and it didnt, because i got a new card. so i went on and changed my payment info. it paid it and it is still asking me for serial number. what should i do?
HELP?
When using Splice RTO, you should not be asked for a serial for Serum.
Since you are, this means one of a few possibilities:
- you had previously installed an old copy Serum on the computer and it is (now) running
- Splice has not deposited a license on your computer (e.g. update Splice and log in)
- Splice has revoked a license from a failed payment (?) <- very likely if it worked prior…

How can I do this on Windows?
I get the same message, "Error -534, please contact [email protected]"
When I go to "/documents/Xfer/Serumpresets" I find in the "system folder" that the user.dat file says "demoversion".
I re-installed the spliceapp, making sure it's updated. I have removed all trace of old versions of Serum, but it keeps saying this.
go to C:\%APPDATA%\ and delete the Xfer folder.
go to C:\%APPDATA%\ and delete the Xfer folder.
So I have already bought Serum a while ago and have a serial but since I've used splice for samples, it now bumps me out of serum in Ableton. Reinstalling hasn't helped. OS X Sierra. . =/
Someone with a Serum lease via Splice must have signed in on your machine.
If not, you should really contact Splice and send them the logs.
command-shift-G in finder and type or paste:
~/Library/Application Support/com.splice.Splice/
delete serum.lic
Warm regards,
Steve
