Serum Effects as Separate Plugins

Started by crister13

Hi Steve,
I rent serum through Splice and absolutely love it, so thanks so much for such an awesome plugin! I was wondering if you ever considered potentially releasing the effects in serum (like the distortion, hyper/dimension, delay, etc.) as separate plugins (or giving them to serum owners or something) so they could be used as effects on tracks outside of serum. I find I sometimes want an effect I only know how to make in serum on an instrument outside of it, and would love to have access to these effects. Is there currently a way to do this, and if not, have you considered potentially releasing them or making them accessible to serum users?
Thanks again for the awesome products.
Chris

This already exists!!!

Serum FX, It's just an alternate version of Serum that you can load on audio tracks as an effect.
Back when i was doing rent to own with splice you had to download it separately, I assume that is still the case.
You can download a version that authorizes with splice by logging into your account and going to this page:
https://splice.com/plugins/your-plugins
Download "Serum FX Installer"

By default all the oscillators and filter are off and audio goes straight to the fx section. Simple and easy.
You need to turn on "note latch mode" in the bottom right of the interface if you want to use the LFO's without sending in midi.

There is lots of cool stuff to be done by sending Serum FX MIDI and using it as a synth AND effect at the same time, lots of videos on youtube explaining that if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzuUvPOKmkI

Wow - thanks so much! Just downloaded it and am looking forward to using it in the future. I never even saw it there, don't know how I missed it but thanks again for letting me know this is already a thing!

Yeah no problem! Have fun, I use it constantly for all sorts of weird stuff (you can use incoming audio as an FM source in the newer versions of Serum, gets pretty crazy!!)

I didn't find it immediately either, it's not super obvious the way its shown in Splice, doesn't download automatically from their app.

why can I download SerumFX only on splice.? Bouht my version of Serum and LFO Tool directly here on this site a few years ago. Now I read about SerumFX but can't find a download… any Help..? :D

Once payments have started on Splice (after 3 days) you can find it in the Splice website (AFAIK) as well as here on xferrecords.com in "your account" - if you can't find that here and payments have started, use the contact form and mention your Splice username.
