Serum and Ableton crash

Hey all,
Serum has been working without any flaws since i downloaded it through Splices Rent to Own until now. Anytime i open Live then open Serum about 10 seconds after being opened both serum and live crash. I have tried the advice previously given in another forum posted 6 months ago which was to locate and delete the .dat files but still have had no luck. I also can open up massive, FM8 and various other plugins cycle, through presets, and create my own presets with no problems, but once serum is opened 10 seconds later it crashes. I checked with splice to see if there were any updates but there are none. Please let me know if there is anything i can potentially do to fix this problem!

-Macbook pro 
-2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 
-16Gb Ram
-10.11.4 OS X El Capitan 
-Ableton Live 64 Bit

Hi Steve,

I've just purchased the Splice lease yesterday and am having the same problem sadly… should i do the same thing and send that info to you as well? it's crashed seven times so far.. yesterday it was all smooth  sailing, today not so much.

Yes, also mention if you had installed Serum prior and be sure to mention your OS.
