Hello,
Sometimes when I load Serum/OTT the VST just displays a white screen. It still makes sounds and I can still turn knobs etc (I just can't see what I'm doing) and the only way to fix it is to close Ableton and reopen it again.
DAW: Ableton Live 9 Standard

Most likely you are out of RAM (Application space), I would recommend to use Live64 and Serum_x64 if you aren't already.
Hi steve im having the same problem, tried restart ableton and free up memory by closing apps, is it possible that it wont work because my screen resolution is 1366x768 (Laptop) ?
im using 64bit version both daw and serum on windows 10

I don't think your screen resolution is to blame. Make sure you don't have any gaming overlay software such as Raptr or Geforce experience. Try updating your video drivers.
