As far as i know, the AU version of LFO Tool doesn't control midi CC of external synths, only the VST version does. Does anyone know if the latest AU version of LFO Tool is capable of midi CC control. Logic doesn't use VSTs like Ableton so id like to know if i can have this control in Logic.
My understanding from watching video tutorials is that you will need to use a VST to AU wrapper.
actually, there's no VST-AU wrapper that I'm aware of that passes MIDI data. The problem in any case is Logic not accepting MIDI out from an AU effect.
LFOTool now uses the IAC Bus, the same way as Cthulhu.

im trying to use the demo to see if lfo tool will work for me. im trying to midi out the side chain. bit confused on how to configure. any links will be happily accepted
That completely depends on your host.
