What OS?
windows 7
What is the size of the installer? Have you looked in C:\Documents\Xfer ?
im pretty sure its like 160mb. when i checked it when it was installing, it showed that it skipped many of the downloads for some reason
it probably skipped because they are already installed. Did you check the location I mentioned?

i checked in documents, there was no xfer folder or serum presets
try running the installer as administrator (right-click). What is the exact name of the installer file?
I'm having the same problem. :\ It didn't seem to install the presets folder. I go to Library > Audio > Presets > Xfer and I can see LFOTool and Cthulu but not Serum. I'll delete it and try to reinstall.
Nevermind, I found what I was doing wrong! I think the solution for you, OP, might be to install version 1.0 first, THEN install the lastest version as stated in the instructions. :P Hope this helps.
I've got the same problem. Windows 7. I've got the DLL installed fine, ran as administrator. But there isn't a Serum presets folder anywhere on my computer, and I've searched.
If there was just a zip file for the demo presets it would be good.
Oops, realised I didn't tick the box which says "Serum presets".
I know that makes me look stupid, but I bet I'm not the first. You shouldn't amke it optional.
the name of the installer is Install_xfer_serum_demo and the version 1.0.0
this is the demo so i dont know where to get the latest version. the demo installls 1.0.0
Look in Documents\Xfer or re-install the demo and make sure the presets option is checked.
there isnt an xfer folder anywhere. ive searched documents or anywhere on my computer even after re-installing. it just skips the downloads of the presets even tho i ticked the box
not sure, that isn't a common problem. you could try "run as administrator" or you can even extract the folder from the exe using 7-zip
i tried the run as admin but it didnt work. ill try the 7zip
yep, 7 zip method did work. thanks for helping and anyone who has the problem i had extract the files using 7 zip
Hey Steve, Im having the same issue on Mac. Started with Demo, I remember selecting presets to go into documents. Purchased complete version, installed update file 109b4, then installed Serum FX 109b2…Presets folder not found in documents nor Library. I ran a full search on anything under xfer records or serum and only files found were the installers. Presets are working but no presets folder. I tried reinstalling everything again but this time its skipping the destination step. Any ideas on how to find them? Thanks.
EDIT : Also there is nothing on xfer records nor serum in these folders : /Library/Audio/Presets/, /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST , /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
Ok guys, I solved it and maybe this might work for you too. For some reason on my mac, all the below library folders were EMPTY and I couldn't find my serum preset folder: /Library/Audio/Presets , /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST , /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
So I clicked on /Library/Audio/Presets , then hit "command-shift G" and a destination search came up, I then pasted: /Library/Audio/Presets/Xfer Records/ , BAM! All the missing folders showed up for xfer records and a bunch more for just about every VST and plug in that Ive installed. Im not sure why these folders were empty but ever since I used the "command-shift G" option, all the folders remained visible :D
Hi Steve, just bought serum and works great on PC.
But when I installed it on my MAC, I cannot locate the "Preset Folder".
Could you provide the pathway to locate it?
Thank you!
Hi haramescrowo,
Thanks for the purchase, the path should be automatic, you need to install the 1.0 version (lowest OS X download in "your account" section here) and then run the update installer.
when i open up serum it says to open the serum presets folder and every time i do it wont do anything it keeps asking me to find it
Thank you Steve for the quick reply.
I actually found another solution:
I use both Mac and PC, I copied my "Serum Presets" folder from my PC computer and pasted into a folder location in my Mac.
And finally entered the serial and Im in.
Much thanx again
