Cthulhu - How do I record chords in Logic?

Hi Steve and everybody else.

I'm messing around with the demo version of Cthulhu, which is awesome, but I can't seem to find the way how to record chords in logic.

I can get the chords from Cthulhu to play my instrument, but when I hit record, only the keys that I play on my keyboard are record and not the chords. I've tried a bunch of the obvious settings but have no positive outcome yet.

It must be fairly easy I'm sure.

Thanks.

Hey I'm using the demo version as well which i find fun to use with Ableton but I cant seem to hook it up with other instruments to play different sounds. when I do the midi from part I select Cthulhu and then theres the second part where you get three options pre FX, Post FX and then there cthuluhu but the selection for cthuluhu doesn't appear and unable to record the chords out. Or is cthuluhu unable to do that in its demo version?

you need to use the VST, not the AU (the AU will in fact warn you to this fact, and for this reason).
Also you won't see "CTHULHU" in the lower I/O rectangle ("second part" as you say) on your desired destination track, unless you have first chosen the track which contains Cthulhu.

Hey there i'm using the demo version in FL Studio 10 and can't seem to get recording midi notes to work. I put Sylenth's Midi in as 1 and Cthulhu's Out as 1 and i can play chords but when it records it only records single notes in to Cthulhu. I also have already tried using Midi yoke and Loopbe1, but FL Studio crashes everytime.

Hope you can help,

Thanks

There's a number of threads in the Cthulhu registered userforum on recording chords in FL, the easiest way is with MIDI loopback. I'd be happy to help out if you decide to purchase, I'm sure it works + we'll get you sorted!

It seems like this thread have answers for Ableton and FL but despite the initial post being about LOGIC and especially method 1 (the "safe way") there seems to be no solution.
I have gotten a 2nd instrument to play (with a huge latency) the notes emitted from Cthulu but i have yet to be able to record them. I have also been able to set up method 2 (the fast way) and now i am able to record the output, but this method does not seem to be able to do realtime input. So are we left with a instrument that cant be played in real time or an instrument that cant be recorded? Its all a little confusing.

You could route a dedicated input (your MIDI Controller, in the environment "physical inputs") to an instrument playing Cthulhu, if for some reason (I can't think of one) you wanted to play Cthulhu and record the output.

You're better off doing the environment routing (or even making it part of an Autoload template) and then removing the cable if you want to print Cthulhu's output. You can create a switch device as well, look in the Cthulhu user forum (you're posting in the general forum)

I agree it is confusing in Logic, though it is pretty hard not to do some finger-pointing at Apple, as they have made the decision and are sticking to it (no support/ability to have MIDI out with AudioUnits).
