Could someone explain the logic of this forum, thanks

I'm sorry to say this, your products are really great but this forum software is terrible, it's actually the worst I have ever witnessed.

With that said, how am I supposed to follow the posts? For example, I post a link to some chords for Cthulhu, and the post underneith mine is not a reply directed to me, actually I think it was posted BEFORE my post. That is so weird and I just don't get this. Please assist me, thank you.

[mod edit: the spam bots have latched on to this post so I've made it read-only, feel free to start a new post if this needs more discusson but as mentioned the forums and everything else will be new very soon!]

We're actually re-writing the entire website from the ground up, including the forums - so this will change soon, but anyways:

The forums replies are nested (nested threads), which means there is indentations (to the right) for replies to posts within a forum as soon as it is needed (for instance if you reply to me here, your reply will be under this post.. but if you reply to yourself above, your reply will be above this post). This is similar to sites such as reddit.com, where you can reply to individual posts and they appear below that particular post, and indented to the right.

You see a post above yours in the topic you mention, because it is newer than your post and *not* in reply to your post. this isn't exactly possible to do anymore - a lot of users here were using the "reply" at the bottom of the entire thread, instead of to the post they actually want to reply to, so we got rid of that ability (so now you have to reply to a post within a topic).

The new site will no longer have nested threading, and will just be chronological. I'm not happy about that personally (in particular old forum posts from this forum become a little confusing to read), but it will certainly be simpler.
