It seems that I should be able to select arp patterns and chord settings via CC's or program changes. Right now I can only doe this by clicking with the mouse which is not very interactive for live performance.

You can change those via program changes as of recently, I'm not sure it's in the demo however.

That doesn't help me right now. It also seems that it would be much easier from a users point of view if you could use an incoming note for arp selection. You could then use part of your kb for arp selection, part for chords and so forth.
Well, you can change the 12 arp patterns that make up the loaded Arp preset using the lowest octave MIDI notes if enabled in the config file.
