Hi Xfer, Steve,
i repeatedly find myself falling back to using the BSOD Square Bass Preset from Serums factory set, as in https://soundcloud.com/makrospex/fur-teen , for example. Although i apply some minor tweaks and filtering most of the time, i wonder if there could be copyright concerns by the preset creator, in this case also a signature sound of you/BSOD.
Can you please give me a light how the topic of using signature sound presets is handled in commercial tracks by "non-originators"?
Cheers,
makro
I made that preset, there's no copyright concern regarding using it. I would say it is safe to use any factory presets in any music-making manner you wish, as I had dialogue with all of my content creators and they're all well aware that the idea is to (freely) use the presets in music making endeavors.
To perhaps state the obvious, I can't be responsible if someone 3rd party samples something and makes a preset out of it, so the above doesnt apply to 3rd party 'expansion' presets: It's the same idea as using a sample/sampler. I wouldn't be overly concerned about it, but if you want to be certain I would check with creators of 3rd party presets to ensure they're royalty-free.
Thanks for pointing this out, also good point regarding 3rd party libs.
